Hi Troop 128 Kayakers!

For those of you, both scouts and adults, that would like to try to still complete the 50 miles for the 50 miler patch, please follow ALL of the directions below and do not forget anything when you come please. You must actually complete the whole 50 miles to get this special patch and it requires Vern to fill out a form for National BSA to verify that you completed it to get the patch.

BY NO LATER THAN TOMORROW, THURSDAY, JUNE 20 AT END OF THE SCOUT MEETING, YOU MUST SIGN UP ON THE TROOP WEBSITE EVENT OR CONTACT JIM MONTGOMERY AND LET HIM KNOW THAT YOU ARE PLANNING TO COME SO THEY KNOW WHO WILL BE THERE.

On Friday at 4:30 pm, we will meet at Ventura Harbor Launch Ramp (see directions below).  Everyone needs all required equipment to paddle. We will try to get as many miles as we can and do the balance on Saturday morning meeting at 8:00 am. Saturday we will kayak in Sea Bridge Marina and use the ramp behind Vons on Victoria to launch our kayaks.
Links to both locations below.
This way we can have different sites to look at while we kayak each day. Both Jim and Paco have completed all of the BSA water safety training required for these water days. NOTE: there will not be any current in the harbors like there was on the river, you will need to paddle the entire time.

BE SURE THAT YOU BRING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

1.     All of your kayak stuff (LIFEVEST, whistle, kayak, paddle, seat, cushions, bilge pump, dry bag with supplies)

NOTE: it is illegal for you to kayak without a lifevest AND whistle.

2.     EXTRA bottles of water – at least a few liters. YOU CANNOT USE YOUR LIFESTRAW FOR OCEAN WATER! It will not work, get clogged and destroy the filter.

3.     Bring some cash or a card for lunch. Friday we can do ice cream and Toppers pizza is a good option for lunch on Saturday.
