There will be a first aid merit badge event hosted at the scout house on Sunday September 15th beginning at 1pm, and ending at 6pm. We will cover as much as we can during this time, but will not be able to do the entire merit badge. A follow-up session will be scheduled at a later date to finish whatever requirements we do not get through during the first session. Scouts should bring their scout handbook and a home first aid kit which they have assembled prior to the event (and should be prepared to speak about the items contained therein). We will be working on the new (as of 2024) version of the requirements. If desired, scouts may print out the merit badge workbook (available here: http://www.usscouts.org/usscouts/mb/worksheets/First-Aid.pdf) and fill it out ahead of time to bring with them so they are prepared with answers and talking points, but this is not required. We will be covering every requirement anyway, even if scouts come with an already filled out workbook.
Note that the first requirement of the first aid merit badge is that scouts should be able to demonstrate knowledge of all of the skills from the first aid requirements for all ranks through First Class. I will not be covering first aid requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks beyond those which are also part of the merit badge. If there are scouts in attendance who have not yet reached the rank of first class, I am willing to work with them separately to complete those requirements in order to fulfill the first requirement from the merit badge.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at a meeting, or via email or phone.
